Treatment of gum diseases and deformities, as well as improvement of the aesthetics of the smile.
Types of procedures:
Gingivectomy: Surgical removal of excess gum tissue (usually due to hypertrophy or pockets).
Gingivoplasty: A procedure to reshape healthy gum tissue to achieve a more aesthetic appearance and a harmonious smile.
Gummy smile: A condition in which the gum tissue is too visible when smiling. Through a procedure such as gingivoplasty or gingivectomy, the excess gum tissue is removed to expose a larger portion of the tooth crown.&
The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, so no pain is felt during the procedure. Once the anesthesia wears off, mild discomfort or sensitivity may occur, which can be managed with pain medication prescribed by the doctor.
Discomfort is usually short-lived.
Complete tissue healing usually takes several weeks to a month, depending on the extent of the surgical procedure. In the first few days after surgery, it is recommended:
Avoid spicy, hard, or hot foods, as well as nuts.
Maintain excellent oral hygiene, cleaning the surgical site very carefully according to the treating surgeon’s instructions.
